INTRO
I am going to skip the part on how the internet works but i will have
to draw to your attention two important things.
First, A website should serve a purpose and should have content people
want to see, otherwise it is a waste of time.
Second, You should choose a category you know allot about.
1- Why do i need a website? What can i do with a website.
There can be many reasons why you would need a website, please identify
that reason before you proceed.
- I need a personal website with my CV, pictures, family, paintings and
so on
- I need a website for my introduction to the internet class (for school
for example)
- I have a product and i want to sell it online (how
do i sell online is covered in this guide)
- I need a website for our local football team
- I need a website to share ideas and communicate with people
- I want to make a website about my city
- I have reasons for needing a website that i already know.
Once you have one of the above identified it is allot easier to make a
better focused website
One additional question, you don't have to do anything about until you
do have a website up and running and getting visitors, the question would
be do I want to start making money from the internet by selling other
peoples products and services, This is also covered in this guide in
Enabling money generation.
2- What do i need to build a website
You will need the following
- Software tools to build the website
- A domain or free subdomain
- A hosting service to have your website on
- An upload tool (like an FTP client) to upload your website to the
hosting service (sometimes it is included in the building software)
You might need other things, in this guide you will learn to get them
for free as you go.
